The brief
Passo brings planners, architects, councillors and traffic engineers to Braga for two days each May to talk about streets people can walk. It began in 2022 in a university lecture hall with 120 people, and the 2026 edition, on 9 and 10 May, moved into the city’s old theatre with 700 seats. It needed an identity that could fill a stage and a street and still fit on a name badge, and an annual of the talks, which until then had been a PDF.
The idea
The zebra crossing is the one street marking every driver stops for, and the only place in a city where the pedestrian has the right of way by law. So it is Passo’s only graphic: stripes on the badge, the stage, the banner and the book, with the wordmark set as wide as the typeface goes, like a long stride. Each edition keeps the stripes and changes its two colours; 2026 is signal green and pink.
Badges and kit
700 badges with the stripes across the top and the wordmark across the middle, a lanyard in the same green, and a tote every delegate got at the door.

In the city
Posters at tram stops and on walls beside real crossings around the old town, and a banner across the theatre front for the two days.

On stage
The stage backdrop is the crossing drawn twelve metres wide. Between talks, delegates walked a route on a printed map, and the city repainted one crossing on it for the conference.

The annual
A 260-page book of the year’s talks with photographs of the streets they were about, green page edges and the wordmark broken over two lines.

What changed
The 2026 edition sold out three weeks before it opened, and the annual is the first Passo book in print, sold in Braga’s bookshops and sent to every council that attended. The stripes stay for 2027; only the two colours change.
