The brief
FOME cooks five menus from one kitchen in Bonfim, Porto, and has no dining room: burgers, bakery, sweets and two smaller menus that change with the season. Around 600 orders leave on Friday and Saturday evenings, handed to riders from three delivery apps. Every bag looked the same, so riders picked up the wrong one and a burger order arrived as a box of doughnuts. The budget ruled out custom structures, and the kitchen wanted new packs before December.
The idea
A rider has about eight seconds between the door and the bike, and nobody reads a sticker at that speed. So the boxes, bags and cups stay plain kraft from a catalogue, and each menu gets one printed paper band in its own colour: burgers pimento red, bakery ochre, sweets rose. The order ticket prints the same band, so the kitchen packs by colour and the rider matches the ticket to the bag.
Burgers in red
The burger box and the sandwich wedge are stock kraft shapes from a catalogue, each wrapped by one red band with the wordmark and the menu number. Stacked on the pass, the bands read from across the kitchen.

Bakery in ochre
The napkins, the 240 ml coffee cup and the box for the ice cream sandwich. The ochre band goes on every bakery piece, napkins included, because a single pastry order can leave with nothing else to mark it.

Sweets in rose
A holder for a single doughnut and a box of six, with the rose band across the lid so a stacked box still reads from the side.

The white bag
The one white piece, with the wordmark in red and no band. It goes inside the banded bags to wrap single pastries, so it never sits on the shelf alone and never needs sorting.

Tickets and the pass
The kitchen printer adds the menu's band to the top of every ticket, and the ticket rides on the box. Orders wait on the pass in colour order, and the sign by the riders' door repeats the three bands, so the match takes a glance.

What changed
The new packs went out on 18 November 2025, and the first run of bands and stock boxes cost less than the printed bags it replaced. If a sixth menu opens, it gets a sixth band and no new boxes.
